By 3190, some starship crews began to transition to this new uniform style, while others continued to use the previous design. It consisted of a jacket in division colors with a black vertical stripe worn over black pants with black boots.

Officers wore a gorget patch on the collar of their uniform and a tricom badge on their left breast.

Captains wore the same duty uniform, but it included additional black stripes on their shoulders, which showed their rank.

A specialized uniform was worn by tactical and security officers, which featured a black "honeycomb" design, and additional padding, over the shoulders and arms of an all black jumpsuit.

Senior officers wore a gorget patch on the collar of their uniform, while junior officers did not. As with the standard duty uniform of this era, a tricom badge was worn on the chest.

An alternate version of uniform was used on Federation space stations. It was similar to the duty uniform but was black instead of grey. It also had no hight collar.

In 3190 and following its reinstatement, the first class of Starfleet Academy's cadets wore red duty uniforms. They also had a distinct version of the tricom badge, which lacked the oval backing.

The flag officer's uniform was a gray two-piece outfit with shoulder flaps reaching down the front of the torso with a thin red trim. Rank was denoted by flag epaulets, and a mostly golden tricom badge was worn on the chest.

Flag offers had a dark gray jacket that opened with a flap and had black sides. It had black strips on the shoulders and a tricom badge on the left breast.

Starfleet Officers were issued a standard dress uniform for diplomatic or formal events. It consisted of a dark gray jacket, pants and boots, with a thin brass line that went diagonally from the shoulders to a brass clip at the waist.

Captains had a dark red jacket, with an open collar, worn over a thick white collared shirt. The Jacket had a flap to open it and silver piping at the shoulders. It was worn with dark red pants and a tricom badge on the left breast.

Cadets had a gray Jacket with blue shoulders, sleeves, and sides. The jacket had a long gorget patch, which went from the collar to the chest. It was worn with gray pants and a tricom badge on the left breast.
